At the Moldovan border, the carriages are usually lifted so the bogies (wheelsets) can be changed from standard European gauge to the wider ex-Soviet gauge, which is a pretty unique experience for passengers.Transnistria
Transnistria has its own unrecognised country, complete with border guards, army, and even plastic coins as part of its quirky local currency. Its flag still proudly features the hammer and sickle, making it one of the last places on Earth still using a Soviet emblem as a national symbol.
